Fireproof connections with the OBO FireBox
Large range of options, simple selection
The FireBox portfolio from OBO connects safety-relevant electrical cables in a fireproof manner. The FireBox is approved for the maintenance of electrical function according to DIN 4102 Part 12. At its core are ceramic connection terminals in the interior, which, in case of fire, guarantee a secure mechanical and electrical connection. The portfolio can offer the right solution for any area of use and all applications.
Overview of the advantages of the FireBox
- Manufactured from halogen-free thermoplast: The halogen-free material means that, in the event of fire, no toxic gases are created.
- IP66 protection rating: The FireBox is particularly robust and resistant.
- Quick and easy to mount
- Clear portfolio for simple selection and a wide range of uses
- Fastening on cable trays, ladders and mesh cable trays with universal mounting plates
Ceramic connection terminal as the heart of the FireBox
The heart of the FireBox is the ceramic connection terminal. It consists of high-temperature-resistant ceramic materials and is available as a single or double terminal, as well as a data technology terminal. It is the basis for a secure mechanical and electrical connection and, in the event of fire, can reliably prevent short-circuits. It is reliably held in position by support clamps. In combination with the thermoplastic housing, it forms an important, test-approved fire protection system.
The different sizes of the junction boxes are adapted to the appropriate nominal cross-sections of the terminals: The FireBox T100 for a cable cross-section of 6 mm², the T160 for 10 mm² and the T250 for 16 mm². As an empty variant, the FireBox T350 offers even more space for equipment with different terminals. Diagonally mounted terminal units mean that there is always sufficient space available. The version as a double terminal allows the branching of different cable cross-sections, as required. Such a branch can be protected using a separate fuse holder.
Info box: Maintaining electrical functions
The maintenance of electrical function is required in all buildings in which many people meet. For example, the longer the emergency lighting and ventilation continue to function during a fire, the greater the chance is that human lives and property can be saved. A key component in the installation of systems that maintain the electrical functionality is the connection and branching of safety cables in appropriate junction boxes. OBO Bettermann developed the FireBox for this purpose. You can find out more on the maintenance of electrical function and additional protection aims in case of fire in our Basic knowledge for protective installations.
Clear portfolio: The right FireBox for any area of use
The FireBox is available in a number of variants, which can reliably cover any area of use and all applications. The clear structure in just 6 product groups makes the selection of the right FireBox particularly simple.
